How to search the database

You may search the database by entering the word or words that you want to search for in the Title, Songwriter, Recording, or Lyrics fields. If you put quotation marks around a group of words, the search engine will look for that particular phrase. If you do not use quotation marks, the search engine will look for those words whether they appear together or separately. The easiest way to find a particular song is to enter a word or words into either the title field or the lyrics field. If you select the name of a specific album, tape, or CD in the Recording field and leave all other fields blank, the database will find all of the songs from that recording.

You can sort the results of your search by Title, or Recording in ascending or descending order. If the search results are particularly large, it is helpful to limit the Maximum Records returned per page to 10 or 20 records per page. You may then go on to the next page or pages of results until you have looked at all of the records.
